Traditional braces use elastic ties, which create friction. Damon braces employs a slide mechanism which allows the wires to move freely, eliminating friction. This shortens treatment time by 4 to 6 months.
Traditional elastic ties rub against your gums and soft tissues, increasing the possibility of mouth ulcers forming. With the absence of elastic ties with damon braces, you will feel comfortable.
With the absence of traditional elastic ties, it is less likely that food particles get trapped, and so for plaque and bacteria to build up. It allows for brushing and flossing to be carried out, and therefore for the maintenance of good oral hygiene.
After your Damon braces treatment is complete, all your brackets and wires will be removed, and thorough cleaning of your teeth and gums will be carried out.

To sustain the results, you will be provided retainers and instructions for their wear.
Once your dentist has made all the preparations (if required), your Damon braces will be fixed onto all your teeth that require orthodontic straightening.
